Huvis honored with “Industrial Medal” at 2025 Industrial Technology Promotion and Technology Awards

2025-12-04

- The company’s R&D Center Director, Kim, Chun Gi, received the Presidential Industrial Medal in the Industrial Technology Promotion category

Huvis (CEO Kim, Suk Hyun, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced on the 4th that its R&D Center Director, Kim, Chun Gi, received the “Industrial Service Medal for Meritorious Service in Industrial Technology Advancement” at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Korea Tech Festival, which was held at COEX in Seoul on the 3rd.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KEIT) annually award various honors, including the Order of Industrial Service Merit, the Industrial Service Medal, the Prime Minister’s Commendation, and the Minister’s Commendation, to individuals who have made significant contributions to developing and applying new technologies to advance domestic industry.

At the event, Huvis R&D Center Director Kim received the Presidential Industrial Medal in recognition of his contributions to advancing Korea’s materials industry and driving its eco-friendly transition. He achieved this by developing physically and chemically recycled fibers from waste plastics and creating biodegradable PET fibers for household and industrial use.

Since joining the company in 2007, Director Kim has played a pivotal role in developing the world’s first chemically recycled LMF, “Ecoever LM.” Ecoever LM is used as a material for automotive interior components, including dashboards, headliners, seats, and door trims. It is particularly well-regarded for meeting the new ELV (End-of-Life Vehicle) standards in Europe, the primary market for eco-friendly vehicles, and for reducing carbon emissions through its production method, which uses recycled plastic as the raw material.

Director Kim was also recognized for developing the biodegradable PET fiber “ecoen,” which reduces microplastics and expands the market for various eco-friendly products. The material biodegrades and disappears within three years when disposed of in soil or marine environments. It can be used in multiple industrial sectors, including apparel, protective clothing, and filters. Domestically, it is used to make biodegradable banners, which helps solve the problem of waste banners that surge during election seasons.

“This award transcends the honor of a single individual. It is the culmination of Huvis’ collective R&D capabilities and technological innovation efforts,” said Park, Sung Yoon, head of the Huvis R&D center. “Moving forward, Huvis will strengthen its global competitiveness in eco-friendly and differentiated products and lead the way in advancing the self-reliance and development of Korea’s materials industry.” (End)
