On the 25th, Huvis (CEO Kim, Suk Hyun, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced that it had conducted the Hope-Growing Coal Briquette Delivery Volunteer Activity for low-income neighbors near its business locations nationwide, in collaboration with the social welfare organization Food Community Briquette Bank (Briquette Bank).
On the 19th, CEO Kim, Suk Hyun and about 40 employees from the Seoul headquarters delivered coal briquettes door-to-door to low-income households in the Guryong Village area of Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Subsequently, the Daejeon Research Institute and the Jeonju factory each donated 4,000 briquettes, for a total of 12,000, to support the local community. Huvis has conducted this volunteer activity for 13 consecutive years since initiating the coal briquette delivery program in 2012.
Despite decreasing production, many households in the community still rely on coal briquettes for heating during the cold winter. According to a survey by the Briquette Bank, approximately 60,000 households nationwide use coal briquettes. The consumer price of coal briquettes, including delivery fees, ranges from 1,000 to 1,200 won and rises 11-33% annually. This places a significant burden on vulnerable groups during the winter months.
“With coal briquette prices rising annually, households that rely on coal briquettes for heating need sustained attention and support ahead of the cold winter,” says Kim, Suk Hyun, CEO of Huvis. “Huvis will continue to practice ESG management through diverse social contribution activities.”
Huvis conducts various social contribution activities annually, including “Hope Growth Supplies Support” and “Hope Growth Lunchboxes,” in addition to its coal briquette delivery volunteer work. (End)
