Huvis (CEO Kim, Suk Hyun, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced on the 25th of this month that it carried out its volunteer program called “Hope-Raising Briquette Delivery,” in which it delivered briquette donations to low-income families near its facilities across the country in cooperation with Babsang Community Briquette Bank, a social welfare organization.
On the 20th of this month, Huvis CEO Kim, Suk Hyun and over 40 employees from the company’s head office visited low-income families in Guryong Village in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to deliver briquette donations and compassion. After the head office, the company’s Daejeon R&D Center and Jeonju Plant also joined in by delivering 4,000 briquettes each to their neighbors in need, and Huvis delivered a total of 12,000 briquettes. Since the start of the briquette donation program in 2012, Huvis has continued the activity for 12 years.
In Korea, there are still many impoverished families who use briquettes to heat their homes in the winter, even though the production of briquettes has decreased over the years. According to a survey conducted by the Briquette Bank, there are about 80,000 families in Korea that still use briquettes, and the price of a briquette, which was about 500 won 10 years ago, has risen to 900 won now, putting a huge burden on low-income families.
“As the price of a briquette increases every year, we should continue to pay attention to the families who depend on briquettes for heating in the cold winter,” said Kim, Suk Hyun, CEO of Huvis. “Huvis will continue to practice its ESG management through various social contribution activities.”
In addition to the briquette donation activity, Huvis carries out a variety of social contribution activities every year, including ‘Hope-raising Goods Donation’, and ‘Hope-raising Lunchbox.’
