Huvis (CEO Kim, Suk Hyun, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced that it received the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) Award at the 59th Invention Day ceremony on the 21st. The event, organized by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Korea Invention Promotion Association, recognizes inventors who have contributed to developing national industries.
At the ceremony, Kim Dong-eun, a researcher at the Huvis R&D Center, was honored with the MOTIE Award for his contribution to advancing the domestic hygiene material industry through the development of the olefin-based composite fiber ‘Purever.’
Kim, who joined the Huvis R&D Center in 2009, played a vital role in the development of Purever, which helped localize olefin-based composite fibers that had previously been imported. He also contributed to the product’s international growth by obtaining global certifications from Dermatest in Germany and Oeko-Tex, ensuring the material’s safety for human use. His work has led to increased exports and the development of new technologies applicable in various fields, including mask filters, tea bags, and food packaging, resulting in obtaining 18 patents to secure product competitiveness.
Purever is characterized by its softer texture compared to standard polyester. It excels in hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity, and breathability, making it ideal for premium hygiene products such as diapers and sanitary pads. Additionally, it is processed using hot air without chemical adhesives, preventing the release of volatile harmful substances. In 2014, its excellence was recognized when it was selected as a World-Class Product by MOTIE and KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency).
CEO Kim Suk Hyun of Huvis stated, “Following last year’s award for meta-aramid technology, we are pleased that Huvis’ differentiated technology for hygiene materials has been recognized this year. We will continue strengthening our research and developing high-performance, differentiated, and eco-friendly products, striving to become a leading global materials company.” (End)
