Huvis (CEO Shin You-dong), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, has once again made a donation of briquettes. The donation campaign aims to assist underprivileged families residing near its business locations across the country in coping with the cold winter.
On the twenty-third of this month, approximately forty officers and employees of the company, including its CEO, visited Bukjeong Village in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, to distribute briquettes door-to-door, aiding neighbors in need during the cold winter. The donation campaign aimed to deliver a total of 12,000 briquettes to neighborhoods in Seoul, Daejeon, and Jeonju. Huvis has been conducting this annual campaign since 2012.
Although the production of briquettes decreases each year, approximately 80,000 households still rely on them during the winter. To make matters worse, the price of a briquette this year has risen to between 950 won and 1,000 won, an increase of more than 100 won from last year, owing to rising raw material and transportation costs. Additionally, briquette donations have significantly declined from previous years, owing to rising inflation and energy prices, making it more challenging for underprivileged families to navigate through the winter this year.
"Despite the fact that there are still many people in need around us, donations have been decreasing owing to rising inflation and energy prices,” said Shin You-dong, CEO of Huvis. “This is a difficult time for everyone, but we hope that many hands will come together to help our neighbors and make their winter a little warmer.”
In addition to the briquette donation campaign, Huvis also conducts various other programs, including Supplies Support and Lunch Box, every year as part of its ESG management. (The end)
