Huvis (CEO Shin You-dong, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced on the 10th of this month that its short-cut fiber brand MINIMAX was selected as a “Current World Class Product” at the 2023 World Class Product Awards hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and supervised by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). Now Huvis has a total of 13 World Class Products, including seven Current World Class Products and six Next Generation World Class Products.
World Class Products are selected annually by MOTIE and KOTRA with the goal of making businesses competitive and revitalizing exports by discovering and fostering products that can compete in the global market. World Class Products consist of two categories: Current World Class Products that have a global market share within the top 5 and above 5%, and Next Generation World Class Products that can become a World Class Product within 7 years.
Huvis' MINIMAX, the award winner this year, is a differentiated material made to absorb moisture quickly and feel soft by cutting fibers with various properties into lengths of 3 to 18 mm, which is much shorter than the length of conventional fibers. These features make it available for hygiene products such as diapers, food packaging materials such as tea bags, and automotive filters, and its excellent dispersibility and shape stability also make it popular as interior design materials such as wallpaper. It has a wide range of applications, including for reinforcing the adhesive property of pulp with special additives.
“The selection of MINIMAX as a World Class Product once again demonstrates that our technology and competitiveness are trusted by global customers,” said Kang Hyung-mo, head of Fiber Business Division, Huvis. “We will continue to strive to meet various needs of our customers by expanding our portfolio of differentiated materials.”
Currently, Huvis has a variety of World Class Products, including LMF (fiber for low melting adhesion), which has the largest market share in the world, ZETAONE, a PPS fiber for industrial bag filters, Purever, a premium hygiene material, and MetaOne, a meta-aramid fiber with excellent frame retardancy for special fireproof suits.
