Shin You Dong, the CEO of Huvis, a leading specialty chemical fiber enterprise, proudly announced on the 9th his collaboration with the 'Zero Single-Use Items Initiative,' a campaign led by the Ministry of Environment.
The initiative underscores a robust national drive to diminish the dependency on single-use items, advocating instead for the habitual use of reusable alternatives. Introduced in February by the Ministry of Environment, this program has uniquely adopted a relay approach. Chosen entities and prominent figures share social media posts featuring a symbolic hand gesture denoting 'zero single-use items,' followed by a nomination of their successor in this relay.
Joining this commendable endeavor upon being spotlighted by SK Chemicals' CEO, Ahn Jae-hyun, Mr. Shin remarked, "Annually, while an alarming 460 million tons of plastic are produced, a scant 9% finds its way to recycling. I'm both honored and enthusiastic to align with such a pivotal campaign that emphasizes curbing single-use items and fortifying our commitment to the environment for future generations." As a progression in this relay, CEO Shin has nominated two people: Ho Yo-seung, the director of the Korea Textile Development Institute, and Lee Woon-ik, CEO of Samnam Petrochemical.
Mirroring the global trend toward reducing the use of plastic, Huvis is unyielding in its pursuit of pioneering eco-friendly material innovations. With a focus on curtailing plastic and carbon emissions, Huvis has introduced groundbreaking products, including fibers derived from recycled PET bottles and materials primed for biodegradation. In parallel, the company is fervently championing a zero-waste ethos via its targeted energy conservation campaign.
