Specializing in chemical materials, Huvis proudly announced on July 11th that it has successfully acquired BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification, a strategic move to penetrate the rapidly growing Indian market.
Huvis, at the onset of the previous year, initiated the application process for BIS certification in India. After undergoing meticulous inspection and evaluation procedures, Huvis received the accreditation last June, thereby qualifying for exports to the Indian market. BIS certification is a system that ascertains the quality, safety, and reliability of a broad array of products, ranging from textiles, chemicals, and steel to electronics. Notably, any export of these products to India is contingent upon prior BIS certification.
Huvis has achieved certification for its polyester staple fibers and filament yarns, putting it in a strong position to tap into the automotive market in India, which boasts an annual production of close to 3 million vehicles.
Recent industry data reveals that India has outpaced Japan to become the world's third-largest automotive market, with sales continuing to skyrocket thanks to a burgeoning middle class. The electric vehicle segment is also witnessing significant momentum with Hyundai Kia Motors announcing plans for a colossal investment of 1 trillion won and acquisition of GM's plant in India. Leading automakers such as Suzuki and Nissan are likewise driving forward with their investment strategies in the Indian market. Following the validation of BIS certification in October, Huvis intends to prioritize the expansion of its LMF (Low Melt Bonding Polyester Staple Fiber) range, a prime fiber product for the automotive sector, and accelerate its sales efforts.
Furthermore, in tandem with the rise in income and living standards in India, known for the world's highest birth rate, consumption of fibers used in diapers and sanitary products is anticipated to surge. As such, Huvis is optimistic about a rise in sales for its relevant fiber materials, including Purever, a staple fiber designated for sanitary use.
Huvis's CEO, Shin You Dong, commented, "In alignment with the Indian government's policy of 'accelerating manufacturing growth,' we expect a significant increase in exports of chemical fiber materials, a cornerstone of manufacturing, to India." He further added, "We are confident that acquiring BIS certification will present a golden opportunity for Huvis to make significant inroads into the Indian market."
