Huvis announced on May 30th its implementation of the 'On-site Energy Diet Campaign,' an integral part of their '2050 Carbon Neutrality Master Plan.' The Master Plan was conceived to combat the global climate crisis and promote ESG practices. The 2050 Carbon Neutrality Master Plan encapsulates a comprehensive greenhouse gas reduction strategy, complete with detailed implementation plans and systematic management methods, all aimed at attaining total carbon neutrality by 2050.
The campaign is significant as it selected 12 superior ideas from 783 proposals gathered through an internal idea competition. These ideas can be independently implemented at production sites, fostering direct employee involvement in substantial greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
Actions for the campaign are grouped into four key areas: ▲Leak Detection ▲Waste Elimination ▲Operational Efficiency Enhancement and ▲Use of Energy-efficient Products. Three specific activities have been defined for each category, designed for effortless integration on site and a supportive atmosphere will be fostered via posters and internal notice boards.
Last year, Huvis reduced its annual greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 261 tons, achieved by installing solar energy facilities in its Jeonju factory. In the medium to long term, the company is considering the introduction of alternative clean energy sources such as hydrogen fuel cells. Moreover, various energy efficiency improvement measures, including the replacement of outdated facilities, the introduction of electric forklifts, and the innovation of low-carbon transport methods, are being planned. The objective is a 23% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, culminating in 'Net-Zero' emissions by 2050.
Furthermore, Huvis maintains a commitment to carbon neutrality, manifested through ongoing internal and external initiatives, which include annual clean-up activities around the Jeonju factory in partnership with environmental protection organizations, and participation in the Eco-Traffic Commuting Challenge led by Jeonju City.
