Huvis delivers briquettes to underprivileged families

2022-11-23

- The company will deliver total 12,000 briquettes to neighborhoods in Seoul, Daejeon, and Jeonju.

People seem to be busy preparing for the upcoming wave of cold weather. One of the items that we need to help keep us warm in winter is a briquette. Although the production of briquettes is declining every year, there are still many people who make use of these briquettes.

Specializing in chemical materials, Huvis (CEO Shin, You Dong, 079980) donated briquettes to neighbors in need near its sites across the nation as part of its philanthropic efforts. On the 22nd, over 40 officers and employees, including CEO Shin You-dong and chairman of the board Kim Geon-ho, resumed their briquette delivery campaign, which had not been held over the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They delivered briquettes to low income families in the Guryong neighborhood in Seoul.
Starting with Seoul this time, the company will extend its campaign to Daejeon and Jeonju, 4,000 briquettes for each region, reaching a total of 12,000. Huvis has been engaged in this charitable campaign for over 11 years since 2012.

According to a survey conducted by Briquette Bank Table Community Association, there are still over 80,000 families who use briquettes in 2021. To make it worse, the price of a briquette has doubled from what was 400 won in 2008 to 800 won now.

“The prolonged Covid-19 pandemic and economic depression is making life difficult for everyone, and in this situation, the upcoming season will be even harder on our neighbors in need,” said Huvis CEO Shin You-dong. “I hope that many people can show their compassion to help keep these people warm.”

In addition to the briquette delivery campaign, Huvis has engaged in various social contribution activities as part of its ESG management, including ‘Hope Supplies Campaign’ and ‘Hope Lunch Box Campaign.’ (End)
