Specializing in chemical materials, Huvis (CEO Shin, You Dong, 079980) said on the 21st that its eco-friendly recycled fiber Ecoever has been selected as the Next Generation World Class Product of Korea at the 2022 World Class Product Award hosted by KOTRA on 18th. By winning the award again this year, Huvis now has a total of 12 World Class Products, 6 World Class Products and 6 Next Generation World Class Products.

The World Class Product of Korea program is co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA every year with the goal of discovering and supporting products that have the potential to compete in the global market, thereby improving the competitiveness of businesses and vitalizing exports. World Class Products are classified into two categories. A World Class Product (WCP) is selected from among the products that are within the top 5 of the global market share, while a Next Generation World Class Product (NG WCP) is selected from among products that can become a WCP within seven years based on its marketability and growth potential.

Selected as NG WCP this year, Ecoever is a fiber product that is recycled from used PET bottles. In Korea, recycled fiber has consisted of mostly low quality staple fiber, and the ratio of filament fiber, which is used for clothing, has been very low. To overcome this quality issue, Huvis built its own equipment for the production of high purity recycled chips and applied its unique fiber technology to produce recycled fiber for various clothing applications, including outdoor, sports clothing and innerwear. Ecoever has been praised for its differentiated technology and knowhow and was even used for the Korean national football team's uniform for the South African World Cup in 2010.

Ecoever also contributes to the reduction of plastic waste and promotes a virtuous circle of resources as it is made out of recycled plastic. It is also expected to contribute to net zero as using recycled plastic reduces carbon emissions by 40%.

“Ecoever was selected as the Next Generation World Class Product this year, proving the technology and global competitiveness of Huvis in eco-friendly materials once again,” said Park Seong-yoon, the head of the Huvis R&D center. “To ensure that Ecoever becomes a World Class Product next time, we will continue to reinforce our R&D, applying Ecoever to more Huvis products, including conjugate yarn and stretch yarn.”

In other areas, LMF (low melting fiber), Huvis’ No.1 global product, has stayed in the list of World Class Products for 21 years since it was first selected in 2001. Huvis also has many other WCPs, including ZETAONE, PPS fiber for industrial back filter applications, and Romela, a low melting point thermal bonding yarn. (End)
