Huvis (CEO Shin, You Dong, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced on the 31st that it will take part in K-Mtech 2022 to be held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, from August 31 to September 3 to showcase ECOPET, the company's PET (polyethylene terephthalate) foam material, as part of its efforts to enhance competitiveness in the high end product market.
 
K-Mtech 2022, being held for the second time following its launch the previous year, will provide an opportunity for visitors to get an insight into the current and future development of composite materials that are critical to the quality of finished goods amid the transition to the 4th industrial revolution as characterized by keywords, such as green, smart, and digital transformation. Items that are to be presented during the event will be diverse, and will include chemical, metal and ceramic materials, biological and fusion materials, test instruments, measuring devices, and manufacturing systems. Huvis will use the event as an opportunity to communicate the benefits and strengths of ECOPET, awareness of which is yet to be raised, and seek ways to partner with other companies to create ECOPET-based solutions and launch cross-stream collaboration.
 
Developed by coupling Huvis’ highly refined PET technology with the concept of foam material, ECOPET has been recognized on multiple local and international occasions so far, including the Jangyoengsil Prize at IR52 2020, the Prime Minister Prize at the Korea Star Awards in 2017, the Asia Star Awards in 2018 and PACKCON in 2019. Huvis is the only company in Korea ever to successfully develop and commercialize a PET foam material. There are only a handful of companies to have done so even in Europe, the U.S., and Japan.
 
Based on PET material and created as a foam, ECOPET is lightweight and features heat insulation and shock absorption. Such features make the material ideal for a wide range of applications, including protection for TV displays, sheets for interior design, inserts for shock absorption, buildings, furniture, and electronics.
 
In addition, ECOPET provides good insulation so that containers made of it can keep food either warm or cold over an extended period of time regardless of exterior conditions. In fact, its adoption for use in the food delivery market has already begun, with Baemin Store launching containers made of ECOPET that can be used for deliveries of hot food and red-bean sherbets last March and again in June.
