Huvis (CEO: Shin, You Dong, 079980) specializing in chemical and fiber materials announced on the 13th that Koh Seong-wook, Director of its Jeonju Plant, received recognition from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy at the 49th Commerce and Industry Day ceremony.

Hosted by the Ministry and organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the ceremony has been taking place annually since 1964 to recognize those working in commerce or industry who have contributed to the development of the national economy and local community and have strengthened their commitment to the growth of the sectors.

Director Koh is the supervisor of the Jeonju Plant, one of Huvis’ key production powerhouses, based on his experiences across a wide range of positions including corporate investment, global sales, marketing, and purchases. His recognition by the Minister is the result of his contribution to i) his company's stronger market presence as a global top tier player in the polyester short glass fiber segment based on his strategic leadership and good management skills and ii) his company’s reporting remarkable growth across a wide range of chemical fiber segments including super fiber, industrial materials, materials for household products, and pro-environmental materials.

He has also contributed to the company having six top global products and five next-generation top products through continuous technological innovation and to the company's higher competitiveness resulting from higher profitability based on improved facility and higher operating efficiency.

On the front of social responsibility, he has led his plant's activities to help those in need in the community, including the donation of lunch boxes for children skipping meals, the donation of necessities for vulnerable people and the donation and delivery of coal briquettes. On the ESG front, he has seen to it that less carbon dioxide is emitted during the production process, that energy consumption is reduced within his plant, and that his workplace is safer.

“I think this recognition is not just for me, but for all Huvis members who have been working hard to overcome difficulties amid the challenging local and international environment and to keep the company competitive,” says Director Koh. “I am sure that Huvis will remain competitive in pro-environmental, highly functional materials as a global leading vendor of differentiated materials that also contributes to the local community and the chemical fiber industry.”
