Huvis’ spunbond for masks has acquired 3 safety certifications

2021-09-09

- PP spunbond Tribon acquired Oeko-tex/Dermatest/Vegan certification.
- Human safety secured by being hypoallergenic with no harmful substances, and no animal products

Huvis (CEO Shin, You Dong, 079980), specializing in chemical and fiber materials, announced that it has acquired all three certifications that verify the safety of its product spunbond, which is used for masks.
Spunbond is a filament, non-woven fabric made of PP, PE, or PET* and is used in a broad range of applications, including sanitary, agricultural and consumer goods. As the demand for masks has increased sharply since the outbreak of COVID-19, the demand for spunbond, a raw material for masks, also surged significantly.

“Tribon,” a Huvis PP spunbond brand, acquired all three representative certifications (Oeko-tex standard 100, Dermatest, and Vegan certifications.) that verify the safety and skin-friendliness over a period of three months starting in last June for the first time in Korea.

Oeko-tex certification is a representative global certification that is managed in Switzerland to prove that no harmful substances are contained in certain products. Huvis acquired the first grade for this certification, meaning that its products are safe enough even for use on infant skin.

Dermatest is a skin hypoallergenic test, and the certificate is issued in Germany. This certification confirms that no adverse reactions, such as itchiness or inflammation, occur on the skin and is widely used in cosmetics, detergents, and sanitary products. Vegan certification proves that no raw materials containing animal ingredients are used throughout the entire manufacturing process and that no animal testing was performed,

"As the period of mandatory mask wearing is prolonged, more consumers have an interest and concern about the skin irritation of the mask material. As we have acquired certification this time with proven human safety, consumers can use our products with an easy mind,” said one Huvis official.

Huvis plans to concentrate on selling Tribon as the inner fabric of the mask layer that directly comes into contact with the skin or also on premium sanitary products, such as diapers and sanitary pads. In addition, Purever, a Huvis’ representative short fiber for sanitary products, acquired Oeko-text certification in 2007, which it has renewed every year since.
