Huvis meta-aramid 'MetaOne' was selected as Next-Generation World Class Product of Korea at the 2018 World Class Product of Korea Awards Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 23rd at InterContinental Grand Seoul Parnas. Huvis announced that now it retains 5 World Class Products and 3 Next-Generation World Class Products, adding up to a total of 8 of them.

Each year, World Class Products of Korea are selected by KOTRA (Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency) to increase firms’ competitiveness and promote exports by discovering and nurturing products with competitiveness in the global market. Products that are worth at least $50 million a year in the global market, are within the top 5 in global market share, and have achieved at least a certain amount of sales are selected as World Class Products. In addition, products that have the potential to become World Class Products within the next five years are selected as Next-Generation World Class Products.

Meta-aramid ‘MetaOne’ that was selected this year is Korea’s first super fiber developed by Huvis in 2009, which is an excellent flame retardant and resistant material used to make fire suits, protective suits and industrial filters. It has been applied to special fire suits in 2015, and for the first time in 91 years, Korean firefighters can now wear special fire suits made with Korean materials.

Aramid fibers are classified into meta-aramid which is flame retardant and does not burn even at 400˚C, and para-aramid that is at least 5 times stronger than steel. This year, it is even more noteworthy as ‘MetaOne’ is the only one selected among aramid fibers.
“The materials technology in Korea has reached a level that ranks on par with any other global materials company,” said Park Seong Yoon, director of the Huvis R&D Center. “We will undertake further efforts for our products to become World Class Products in the future.”

Aside from LMF(Low melting fiber) that is No. 1 in global market share, Huvis also possesses multiple World
Class Products such as hollow fibers, PPS super fibers and fibers for sanitary materials.
