Huvis (CEO Shin, You Dong, 079980), specializing in chemical materials, will participate in the 17th International Exhibition & Seminars on Bag Filter Technology and Equipment to be held in Wuhan, Hubei, China from 24th to 26th for three days as part of its global marketing efforts.
As the world's largest trade show for industrial bag filters, the show is held in China once a year. Over 200 businesses engaging in bag filter materials and equipment will participate in the event, including Japan’s Toray and Teijin and Chinese state-run power company Longyuan.
A bag filter is a filtering dust collector that filters dust and gases mainly at thermoelectric power plants, ascon or cement plants and waste incineration plants. In addition to synthetic or glass fibers, the demand for high-performance bag filters using super fibers such as PPS and aramid has also been increasing significantly as of late.
The material of a bag filter varies depending on substances of dust or gas temperature. For example, the optimal material for a thermoelectric power plant is PPS fiber, which is highly resistant to acid or alkali, while the one for an ascon process, which generates hot gases, is meta-aramid, thus being inflammable.
As the world's second largest PPS fiber producer, Huvis has participated in the show every year since five years ago to show off the excellence of its products and raise its market share in China, the world's largest bag filter market.
In 2009, Huvis succeeded in developing PPS fiber for super engineering plastic, a first in Korea, and exports the entire PPS fibers it produces. The PPS fiber is a high-value product whose price is seven times higher than polyester. As the company is the only Korean maker who produces both PPS and meta-aramid, it can supply bag filter materials for various applications.
"Demand for PPS is continuously growing as Chinese companies use bag filter dust collection methods to meet their country's strict environmental regulations," said Shin, You Dong, Huvis CEO. Having already affirmed our position in Europe and U.S., we will work with our subsidiary, Sichuan Huvis, to strengthen our marketing in China so we can become the world's No.1 bag filter material supplier."
As of 2017, the size of the PPS fiber market amounts to approximately 12,000 tons. Huvis sold 1,200 tons in 2016 and in 2017, it posted sales of 2,400 tons, up 200% from the previous year, coming in ahead of Japan’s Toyobo and becoming the world's No.2. Huvis has a global market share of 20% following Japan’s Toray, and plans to sell 3,400 tons this year.
