Huvis (CEO / Yoo, Bea Keun, www.huvis.com), the leading cutting-edge chemical and fiber materials company, announced that the company selected eight elementary schools in Jeonbuk with poor education and welfare environments, and held a ceremony to present books and supplies for the schools as a ‘Dream Supplies Support’ project on the 24th at Imsil Kilim Elementary School in Jeonbuk.
This support project is intended to select eight schools after going through an actual inspection of elementary schools in Jeonbuk recommended by the Jeonbuk Office of Education, and to deliver the support fund to install broadcasting systems, purchase books and improve the library environment. The eight selected schools are small with less than forty students in each, and have difficulties in school events such as school arts festivals or graduation ceremonies due to poor broadcasting equipment or are in desperate need of basic help due to lack of books or deteriorated library environments.
“It’s great to be able to install shades in the library and replace desks and chairs with the support fund provided by Huvis, as it will enable students to read books in comfort,” said Gyeong-ja Kim, principal of Kilim Elementary School.“I hope the students grow up to be outstanding and talented individuals by enjoying books at all times.”
Huvis has begun carrying out the ‘Dream Project’ to provide education, supplies and food for children of low-income families since last year. It has sponsored a total of eighteen schools so far: five schools for the ‘Dream Lunch Box’ project, three schools for the ‘Dream Class’ project, and ten schools for the ‘Dream Supplies Support’ project including the current eight schools.
“Since the years of the parent companies, SK Chemicals and Samyang Corporation, Huvis has made constant efforts for regional development over the last 50 years,” said Pil Man Yoon, General Manager of the Jeonju factory. “We will continue to carry out the support projects for underprivileged children, elders and local residents, and take the initiative in contributing to the local community.”
