The ‘Dream Come-True’ project’s goal is to support children from low-income families through providing educational benefits, books, supplies, lunch boxes and more. The aim is to help them develop into the talented leaders of our future. In August, the ‘Dream Come-True Class’ project became the first of its kind, connecting university honor students together with children from low-income families. The mutually beneficial relationship provided college students with scholarship subsidies while, as quality tutors, they were also able to give back, providing learning opportunities for children.
As part of this larger project, the ‘Dream Come-True Music Lab’ was designed to create a school filled with music as a way to help in the development of children’s sensibilities and personalities. Schools with relatively low educational and welfare benefits were selected after consulting with the Jeollabukdo Office of Education. In terms of donations, 5 saxophones were given to the Song Gwang Elementary School and total sound equipment was provided to the Chung Woong Elementary School.
Principal Jung Ki Eun of the Song Gwang Elementary School said “We had been having some difficulty in purchasing saxophones, which are an expensive instrument. Then, we heard about the Huvis ‘Dream Come-True' project. Thanks to Huvis, we’ve received 5 million won to pay for the saxophones.“ Principal Eun added, “We plan to gradually increase the current 5 member ensemble to 8. The children will thus have all the motivation and opportunity they need to hone their musical skills. I am sure they will go on to become a saxophone ensemble of whom our whole school and region can be proud.”
The next projects to continue with Huvis’ aid project for underprivileged children are the ‘Dream Come-True Library,’ which supports schools in remote or isolated areas or islands with books, and the ‘Dream Come-True Lunch Box’, which sees one meal provided each day for undernourished children.
