Seizing the high value-added fiber market! Huvis builds an additional ‘LMF (bonding fiber)’ producti

2013-12-10

Huvis (www.huvis.com), the leading cutting-edge chemical and fiber materials company, under CEO Bae Keun Yoo, announced that the company has secured an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons through the building of an additional production line for low melting fiber (LMF), the world’s top industrial fiber. This has enabled Huvis to obtain a of 45% global market share.

While standard polyester fiber melts at temperatures exceeding 280˚C, LMF melts at low temperatures, of around 100 to200˚C. As a bonding fiber that substitutes for chemical adhesives, LMF is an environmentally-friendly product reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It is used principally as an interior material in cars for door trim, ceilings, and headliner, and infurniture like sofas as well as for construction and industrial purposes.

A Huvis official said, “LMF is a key profitable product making up 30% of Huvis’s sales, and with this additional facility, we are expecting an increase of 40,000 tons in annual production  and an increase of 100 billion won in annual sales,”. “This product is exported to over 100 countries worldwide including many nations in Europe and to the U.S., and we have already signed export contracts with the bulk of those countries.”

Huvis has been making constant efforts to increase output and improve quality for over 25 years, investing in LMF R&D since 1989 as part of parent company Samyang Corporation, with Huvis having finally attained a market share accounting for nearly half of the fiber market worldwide.

“The chemical fiber industry continues to make strong efforts to enhance profitability, and Huvis plans to build an additional LMF production line in China next year, following increasing demand from the Chinese market, with an eye towards securing a 50% global market share,” said CEO Bae Keun Yoo. “We are creating added value by developing more differentiated fiber products like LMF dope dyed fiber, which is colored in the raw material stage.”

LMF is used principally in vehicles, and the market is growing at least 8% annually following the trend towards weight reduction of cars and increasing demand for eco-fiber.

Huvis LMF has been selected as a leading global product by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy continuously since 2001. The new LMF production has begun operations at the end of November.
