The company selected 8 elementary schools in the province that possess a poor educational and welfare environment and provided funds toward the purchasing of books and goods.

In this program, Huvis selected 8 schools after conducting due diligence among the elementary schools throughout Jeollabuk-do as recommended by Jeollabuk-do’s Ministry of Education, and issued the funds for the purposes of replacing public intercom systems, installation of bicycle racks and remodeling of science labs. The chosen 8 elementary schools consist of small schools with less than 50 students. As their public intercom systems are in a poor state, they face difficulties whenever they hold school events like art festivals and graduation ceremonies, and their science labs and nurse’s offices are outdated. They are in desperate need of help.

“The Huvis support funds made it possible to install speakers in every classroom and broadcast to all classes,” claimed Inja Jeong, principal of Yudeung Elementary School. “As we can now easily hold morning assembly for all students and make public announcements, the learning environment at our school has become significantly improved.”

Since 2012, Huvis has been engaged in the ‘‘Dream project’ for providing education/goods/meals for children in the low-income bracket and annually sponsors a total of 16 schools: 6 schools in the ‘Lunch Boxes for Hope’ program, 2 schools in the ‘Hope in the Classroom’ program, and 8 schools in the ‘Dream project’

“Huvis has been making efforts for local development for over 50 years, dating back to when our parent companies of SK Chemical and Samyang Corporation were in operation,” remarked Pilman Yoon, manager of the Jeonju Plant of Huvis. “Continuing with this tradition, we are planning to provide support for underprivileged children, senior citizens and local residents, and take the initiative for contributing to the local community.”
