Huvis, the nation’s largest chemical materials company, was selected as ‘the 2011 Outstanding Examples of Mutual Collaboration for Research & Development’ held by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), which is affiliated to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. The awards ceremony took place at COEX on the 14th.

This event has been hosted by KEIT four times since the past May. Out of the 14 examples announced at ‘The Mutual Collaboration Forum for Mutual Growth of Involved Big Businesses and Small-Medium Sized Businesses,’ four examples were selected because of their outstanding performances. Out of the four examples, Huvis was exclusively selected in the fiber field.
Huvis received high evaluations because it cooperated for the development of new product fabrics, such as medical supplies and fashion materials,
by providing Youngdo Velvet with biodegradable polyester materials with exceptional heat resistance.
by providing Youngdo Velvet with biodegradable polyester materials with exceptional heat resistance.
Huvis’ biodegradable polyester maintains the strength of existing polyester and is made biodegradable by adding nature-friendly biomass and materials, which causes the properties of polyester to change easily with microorganisms and moisture in the soil, to existing polyester raw materials. Plastic bottles, clothing, and plastic products made from the biodegradable polyester is confirmed to have over 90% decomposition in just 45 weeks of being buried in soil under fixed conditions (temperature of 55℃, relative humidity of 90%, pH of 8.5). Its biodegradability was recognized through passing the criteria of a biodegradability test (ISO-14855) and a toxic substance test (US EPA 3052) by the Korea Apparel Testing & Research Institute, an internationally authorized testing institute.
Apart from Huvis, KAI was also selected by receiving high evaluations because it transferred 45 aircraft-loading software technologies to small-middle sized businesses while participating as the lead agency in the ‘Unmanned Aerial Vehicle WBS (World Best Software) Project’ from 2010. LG Life Sciences was also selected by receiving high evaluations through its sharing of technology information, so that K-MAC, a small-middle sized business, could localize a one-stop immunodiagnostic system that can simultaneously examine about 60 allergies with a single drop of a blood for the first time, while conducting the ‘Integrated Allergy Diagnosis System’ development project.
Sungwoo Hitech supported the high intensity aluminum materials development of IONE, a small-medium sized business, by providing it with material specifications for parasols through product modularity in developing the assembly technology of BIW (vehicle chassis), a highly safe, lightweight aluminum car body module of the next generation vehicle.
