Huvis’ Meta Aramid fiber, ‘MetaOne,’ which stands for No. 1 of Meta Aramid fibers, is being well received in the market.

Through 3 years of research and development, Huvis succeeded in developing the production technology for a Meta Aramid Fiber and completed production facilities with an annual capacity of 1000 tons in its Jeonju factory in June 2009. After that, it was equipped with commercial production facilities after increasing overall quality by concentrating on production trials.
Meta Aramid that is regularly sold is mainly used for industrial material, construction and industrial filters. It is later scheduled to expand its production items to protective clothing, including fire uniforms, and electric insulating paper.
Huvis has selected manufacturers by product and is selling it on a full-scale. It looks as if they will fully run an assembly line in the second half of the year. The nation’s demand for Meta Aramid is now approximately 600 tons. However, if Huvis expands the market by increasing potential demand through new product development and targets 30,000 tons of the world market, it is planning to be able to fully meet the demands.
The international market price of Meta Aramid Fiber, of which over 80% of the market is held by DuPont and Teijin, is 20 to 40 dollars per kg. It has a maximum price 20 times higher than 2 dollars per kg of regular polyester. From special industrial fields to consumer goods, its demand is increasing and the potential and growth power of its market are infinite.
As Huvis entered real commercial production of Meta Aramid domestically for the first time, Korea has grown into the third super fiber power nation that produces both Para-aramid and Meta-aramid fiber, after the U.S. and Japan. (End)
